CO-CREATING CULTURE
Designing organisational rituals
Every human group ever created and maintained a set of Rituals. There’s a reason for that. Rituals are the defining actions that tell individuals they are part of a group. They have the power to reinforce behaviour and promote inclusion and belonging. Yet we don’t give them much thought or even think of them as rituals; for example the dreaded company all hands or the poorly named ‘onboarding process’ (you welcome people, it should be called Welcoming, we have decided that). Spend some time thinking about how your organisation can co-create a set of rituals that help your group move from me, to we.
Educators and Theatre Practitioners have known something for ages: rituals help a group think, feel and do things together. This workshop topic focus on bringing that understanding into your workplace so that there is a systematic approach to promoting and growing your culture, together. Learn the theoretical underpinning of group rituals in a sociological and psychological context, then get to the fun part of thinking with your team or others (and us!) about the rituals you can institute that promote a sense of your organisation and help you get shit done, playfully.
